Water-Miscible Semi-Synthetic Metal Working Fluid
FLAVA 101 is a formaldehyde-free, amine-containing, semi-synthetic metalworking fluid designed for multi-purpose machining applications. Developed to meet modern occupational health and environmental standards, it does not contain nitrite or critical secondary amines and complies with TRGS 611 regulations
Formulated with highly effective corrosion inhibitors, FLAVA 101 provides long-term pH stability and outstanding corrosion protection, ensuring reliable machining performance and extended sump life.
Key Performance Advantages
Excellent corrosion protection for steel and cast iron
Formaldehyde-free formulation
Nitrite-free and secondary amine-free
Optimized pH stability for long service life
Stable emulsion structure
• Very good flushing performance
• Excellent foam control and rapid defoaming
Application Areas
FLAVA 101 is developed for:
Light to medium-duty machining of steel and cast iron
General turning, milling and drilling operations
Grinding applications, including bearing industry processes
Central coolant systems
Its strong flushing performance and effective defoaming behaviour make it particularly suitable for grinding operations
Recommended Concentrations
Machining operations: 5 to 15%
Grinding operations: approx. 5%
The coolant concentrate should always be added slowly into water with constant stirring to obtain a homogeneous emulsion. Recommended maximum working temperature is 40°C
Water Quality Requirements
For optimal emulsion stability:
Total hardness ≤ 15°dH
Chloride content ≤ 50 mg/L
Conductivity < 1000 μS/cm
Minimum hardness of 5°dH recommended when using deionized water
Water temperatures below 10°C may reduce mixing efficiency
Technical Highlights
Appearance (concentrate): Brown, clear
Emulsion appearance: Opaque
Density at 15°C: approx. 1.025 g/cm³
pH (5% emulsion): approx. 9.8
Excellent foam knock-down performance
Corrosion test (4%): DIN 51360/2 – 0
